In this profession, every day we face challenges, but each of them has only strengthened me to be a better person, a better listener and a better teammate.
Winning this award would not have been possible without the inspiration I have received from my manager and colleagues, for whom I have the deepest respect, and from whom I have derived the strength to challenge myself and perform better at each stage.

“The Collaborative Way” Award
This person exemplifies the principles of the Collaborative Way, which include Listening Generously, Speaking Straight, Being For Each Other, Honoring Commitments, and Acknowledgement / Appreciation.
Chris Bingham: “I applied for this position at Champion for the sole purpose of working with like-minded people. I’ve always been committed to life-long learning, and believe that process is much more efficient within a team, but never really had a team that collectively builds on its members until now. From day one, I’ve worked with peers far more experienced than I. I quickly became a sponge for knowledge, absorbing the various platforms in front of me. With all of the help I received, I guess I didn’t realize I was reciprocating, which is why I was, and am, extremely humbled to have received this award.”
The Team Excellence Awards
This is a group of people at Champion that exemplify the Champion value of Excellence. It can be for a project, an office, a committee, or any other grouping of people within Champion.
Holly Energy Partners Osage Pipeline Data Mapping Project Team
Group Statement: “Between satellite installations, director programming, on-site checkouts, and lots of travel, it took a collaborative effort to complete the project, and everyone did a fantastic job.”
John Hargroder: “This project had many challenges. It covered two states, Kansas and Oklahoma, and had very difficult pipeline scheduling windows. The team lacked field support from Holly Energy Partners on many occasions so they had to work with Magellan, the previous owner of the pipeline, to get the project completed. They sacrificed a lot of personal and family time to try to meet the demanding schedule and frequent travel requirements of the project.
With all of these challenges we still managed to come in under budget and on time. Holly Energy Partners ended up with $150,000 left over from the project budget and I think it was largely due to the efforts of the Champion team to get the project completed efficiently.”
Freeport McMoran Oil & Gas Holstein Deep Topside Integration & PLC Upgrade Project Team
Ed Bentin: “Each member of the team added their own valuable skillsets to achieve project success. Working in a high stress environment along with a fixed timeframe required each person to be able to troubleshoot and adapt to unexpected problems as they arose. Each member’s ability to openly communicate with everyone else while addressing these issues allowed the team to work together in order to continue progressing towards delivering a complete product to the customer.”
Jonathan Hoffpauir: “Implementing several large projects simultaneously required a great amount teamwork amongst the many project team members. We coordinated multiple shifts around the clock and were able to successfully execute the projects with minimal impact to the customer.”
Khaja Moinuddin: “I was mainly involved in C200 controller loading and IO segregation design to eliminate system issues and enhance reliability and performance of the system. Coordination between the two offices was so well that we did not feel any difference and work went very smooth. Overall this project was very well planned and executed considering the fact two offices were involved and it was a challenging project.”
William Sulzer: “It’s truly an honor to receive this year’s Collaborative Way Award and it’s humbling to even be considered when I work alongside so many talented people. Effective collaboration isn’t a solitary or one-sided effort — it can only happen when you work with other people who are open to the process. Because of that, I feel like this award is shared with everyone I’ve worked with over the past year. From successful projects to internal initiatives, we created a lot of great things during an otherwise not so great year. Thanks to everyone who helps me be an effective collaborator, and I look forward to tackling the challenges that await us tomorrow, together!”
